What should you learn before exploring freely?
Read each hero’s available actions before assuming every character can attack in the same way. Underkeep is a single-player RPG with a party of four, grid-based movement and turn-based battles. Start with a manageable encounter and learn how positioning affects access to enemies. These guides cover Rake in Grass’s game, not a similarly named dungeon in another RPG.

How should you handle an early setback?
Check health, stamina, mana and the actions still available before concluding the party cannot contribute. Developer replies point players toward Rest, potions and tactical position changes. A low-health frontliner can retreat while another character holds the line. This is a recovery decision, not an instruction to reshuffle the entire party after every action.
What should you record along the way?
Use the automap to distinguish a locked route, an unresolved mechanism and an optional encounter. The October developer update confirms custom minimap notes for the upcoming game. Record what stopped you and what you tried. If a feature differs in your demo build, follow its current interface rather than assuming every full-game improvement is already available.
How much does the demo establish?
The demo store describes a starting area, one dungeon and a selection of classes. It is a useful introduction to the rhythm, but not evidence of every final build, item or ending. Separate observations from that version from the announced full-game features, and revisit these guides when the release build is available.
